Skyward Sword 30 Day Challenge - Day 21

Gratitude Crystals, a good way of introducing sidequests or a waste of time?

Well, it’s not a bad way of introducing sidequests, but the sidequests are repetitive and there aren’t enough…

Did you use any of the featured medals? If so which ones came in handy the most?

Pretty much answered that on Day 4 too:

Lastly, the medals… Apart from the life medals that give you an additional heart container, and from the heart medals in Hero Mode, they’re all pretty useless.

I’ll add that I only used the heart medals the first time I played on Hero Mode. It felt like cheating so I didn’t use them the second time, that was more interesting.

Skyward Sword 30 Day Challenge - Day 18

What did you think of having the Harp as an instrument versus other instruments like the Ocarina?

I’ve answered that on Day 4:

The Goddess’s Harp… Well, why is it called a harp in English? Isn’t that a lyre? Anyway, it’s a bit disappointing. You can’t play the notes you want like with the ocarina, you just do the exact same moves to play any song, and so you can only play them when they are required. It’s still kinda cool and makes a beautiful sound when you play it freely, but it’s too limited.

fyharps:

Picture: A screengrab of the character Link from Legend of Zelda games. He is playing a lyre. N.B. A LYRE. NOT A HARP. THEY ARE DIFFERENT. It’s like calling a guitar a violin or a clarinet a trumpet. YES IT MATTERS. Damnit.

Yup, that’s weird… At least, in the French version they called it a lyre.

Goddess Cubes; Good idea or too much work than they’re worth?

Definitely a good idea, I like to activate all of these. I don’t see how they could be too much work, it’s not like you had to look hard for them, they’re generally pretty obvious, and except for a few useless things, they give pretty good items.

Did you end up getting the Hylian Shield?

Well, of course! I can’t imagine finishing the game without it, come on, it’s the Hylian Shield! And it’s not that hard to get in normal mode. In Hero Mode, even if I have to try the boss rush times and times, I just HAVE to get that shield. What kind of hero would Link be if we wasn’t even able to get it?

Skyward Sword 30 Day Challenge - Day 15

What is your opinion on the Trials?

Oh dear, how I raged against those things on my first game. I’m still a little reluctant to do them now, but when you know the regions pretty well, they become easier. I’d say they are stressful challenges in a game that is otherwise very easy, so well, that’s not a bad thing.

Skyward Sword 30 Day Challenge - Day 14

Which temple was your overall favorite?

Ah, pretty difficult to choose. Basically, my favourites temples are the ones from the second half of the game.

I usually hate water dungeons, but the Ancient Cistern is really cool. You’re like in some kind of paradise, and then you find yourself in the underground part, that’s just great. But I hate the boss.

The Sandship, how could I not love this one? It’s a pretty unusual dungeon, and it’s really good. Only problem: I don’t like its boss either.

I also like the Fire Sanctuary, but I’ll say my favourite one is the Sky Keep. Come on, a dungeon where you have to rearrange the rooms in order to progress? How cool is that?
